Donations and Volunteers Needed

Craftsmen’s Park is a beautiful 68 acre, wooded area located on the shores of Rex Lake. Craftsmen Park is a non-profit 501-C3 charitable organization. Craftsmen Park was and is organized and incorporated for the primary purpose of holding youth camps. Some of the groups that take advantage of Craftsmen Park facilities include the Camp Quality of Ohio, a Camp that is strictly for children with cancer and allows each one of them to participate in the unique camp experience at no charge to their families, Capstone Masonic Youth Camp, the Boy Scouts of America, various school band camps, church groups, The Portage Lakes Athletic Youth, a little league association, and Rotary International.  All of these groups at no charge.

We are the home for the Dragon Dream Team, a nonprofit organization whose members are all breast cancer survivors.  We are also the home of the only Dragon Boat in the State Ohio.  In the past year membership of this organization has grown to the point that they now have four teams, two of which are racing teams.  All of us in Summit County can be proud that we are the home of the first organization of this kind in Ohio.

Various Masonic Lodges and Eastern Star Chapters in and around Summit County, Ohio contribute to the operation of the park. These contributions allow all Masonic and Eastern Star families to recreate by boating, camping, picnicking, to hold family gatherings, and other various uses of the park. In addition, each year Craftsmen Park offers and promotes the use of its facilities to organizations dedicated to educating and promoting the welfare of our youth.

Craftsmen Park includes a small 50 site campground and a 100 plus slip marina. Some of the funds to operate the park are generated through set donations from the seasonal use of these facilities. The campground has several transient camp sites for the use of weekend campers and RV travelers. Due to the fact that the park is primarily funded by the various Masonic Lodges and Eastern Star Chapters, no traveling RVer/Mason or Eastern Star will be turned away for a camp site (during season).  Thus giving them a place of safe harbor during their travels.

The park also has buildings and pavilions which generate set donations for the use of them. Craftsmen Park also acts as host to the Portage Lakes Rowing Association, which is also a nonprofit organization.   This group consists of many individuals from Summit County and Northeast Ohio. The Portage Lakes Rowing Association makes preset donations to the park for the use of facilities.

However, today's tough economic conditions make it difficult for Craftsmen Park to meet the everyday cost of operation. Without help from people like you the park cannot exist. We are writing to invite you to make a cash donation that will help with the rising costs of upkeep and maintenance of the park, and keep this beautiful facility open all summer long.

To show appreciation to our donors, Craftsmen Park has put together Donation Plaques. Though any donation amount will help, $10, $20, $30 etc., once a donation amount of $100 is reached we will put your name or your organizations name on our Donation Plaques. Plaque amounts are as follows:

Bronze                       Silver                     Gold

            $100 - $249                                        $250 - $499                              $500 & up

Your donation will also be acknowledged in the Craftsmen Park newsletter. Craftsmen Park will keep track of the donations received and as you or your organization reach new levels of donation you will be added to the appropriate plaque. You will also receive a letter of appreciation for your contribution as they are tax deductable.

Please know that all contributions you make will positively impact Craftmen’s Park.
